Member of the Month August, 2017

unnamed-2

Thank you for your time and for accepting to be our “Member of the Month.” Before we get into your story, let’s start with a brief introduction… (Age, town, family/kids, occupation, etc.)

Hi! I’m Kellie Roche- I’m 46 years old, divorced, have two amazing daughters 26 and 20, and I live in Scituate. I’m an RN, and have been the nurse at the middle school in Scituate for the past 17 years. I also work every other weekend at Boston Medical Center in the Emergency Department. I love being able to work in two very different environments!

When and how did you get started with us?

The school department incorporated a wellness day as part of our professional development in March of 2016. CrossFit SciCoh was part of that wellness day, and offered us a trial on-ramp. I railroaded Jenn to go with me, and I’ve been hooked since.

Favorite workout?

Annie- Especially now that I’m able to string together double unders!

Least favorite workout?

Anything with pullups or pushups, I swear God made me without lats! But I’m working on it. 🙂

What’s the best part about working out with your class?

Everyone is so encouraging and motivating. We have such an awesome community!  On the days that I struggle to get there, I can hear Scott saying “just show up”. It’s the best advice. I honestly leave every workout- whether I PR, or just barely get through it, feeling more empowered and strong.

What’s the wallpaper on your phone right now?

My favorite vacation spot-Disney.

What’s your favorite “cheat” meal?

I’m pretty strict paleo 90% of the time, but when I cheat it’s bar pizza – meatball, well done.

What’s the last thing you searched for on Google?

Jet Blue flight prices to Charleston, SC

If you could be any animal in the world, what animal would you be and why?

My dog Tucker, a 36 lb mini schnauzer/sheltie mix who is spoiled beyond belief.

What is one way CrossFit has positively impacted your regular/daily life?

CrossFit literally impacts every single aspect of your life. Physically, emotionally, and socially. I really struggle with self confidence, and it has helped me so much in this area alone. I feel stronger, healthier, and mentally clearer than I’ve ever been in my life.

What advice would you give to a new member at CrossFit SciCoh?

I’m going to steal Scott’s (thanks Scott!) Just. Show. Up. The Coaches and members are amazing and are so welcoming. Everyone’s a beginner at some point! You are not in competition with anyone but yourself. Every day just try to be a little better than you were yesterday, and don’t beat yourself up or get discouraged when you don’t have the best day in the gym. You’re still lapping everyone that’s on the couch!!

If you could sum up CrossFit SciCoh in one word, what would it be?

Transformative!
