First member to start it off is the awesome Laura Dosdall!
1. Tell us a little about yourself?
After 4 years of playing lacrosse for the University of New Hampshire I graduated with a degree in Exercise Science. I have been working as a personal trainer in some capacity now for about 10 years. I moved down to the South Shore about 5 years ago to manage a local gym, but decided I wanted to get back into the lacrosse world so I left to take on a part-time personal training job and begin coaching. I am currently the Hingham High School girls varsity lacrosse head coach and I am the head coach for the Laxachusetts club team’s class of 2018.
2. Tell us your CrossFit story (where were you before RCFBC and where are you now?)
As a personal trainer, my own workouts became sporadic because I was always in the gym. I did a lot of outdoor training like hill sprints or would even workout on playgrounds to keep from getting bored. So I started off fit and healthy, but had lost my consistent routine. Now I try to get to a class at least 3-4 days per week, run once a week, and do Yoga once a week and I’ve never felt better!
3. What does being part of the SciCoh community mean to you?
Being part of this community constantly pushes me to give a little more than I thought I could, go a little harder, and stay consistent. You rely on each other to show up each week.
4. What accomplishments are you most proud of?
In general I have made huge improvements in some of the more technical movements like pull-ups and double-unders, but I have to say I’m most impressed with my 145lb Clean and Jerk for the first Open WOD. That was only the second time I have even tried that lift, so I was shocked.
5. What are your challenges and goals going forward?
I am still very challenged by putting together longer streaks on things like T2B, C2B and Double-unders, but my ultimate goal is to be able to do a muscle up.
6. Outside of CrossFit, what do you enjoy doing? (hobbies, activities, past times, etc.)
I could play, coach, watch, or talk about lacrosse and fitness all day long, but I also love anything involving the outdoors and anything challenging or competitive, like hiking, beach volleyball, and obstacle course runs. My top 2 favorite hikes have to be the Grand Canyon and Whiteface Mountain in Lake Placid.
