In our No Sweat Intro we want to learn about you and your goals, answer your questions, and ultimately end with a customized plan of how to get you there…even if it isn’t with us!

It’s truly “No Sweat” meaning you don’t need workout clothes and there are no sales techniques.

Hi, I am Mike LeJeune, the owner of CrossFit SciCoh.  Clearly one of your friends or family members think you’d love it here, so of course we’d love for you to come by!

BUT…

if you are anything like me when my friend told me about CrossFit years ago, you are 50% intrigued and 50% hearing a voice in your head that says “aw hell no!”

3 Common concerns

That little voice is TOTALLY normal.

Believe it or not it took me 3 years to try CrossFit after the first time my friend asked me to check it out.

My reservations then are likely the same things crossing your mind now.

1. I can’t do this…can i?

I was a decent athlete growing up, but by no means did I look like those guys on TV! But then again…neither did my buddy and he was doing it.

WHAT I LEARNED

After doing this for 7 years, I can honestly tell you anyone can do this. I’ve trained athletes in wheelchairs, grandmothers, new & pregnant moms, average Joe’s, kids, and of course amazing athletes too. Perhaps the biggest way I can drive home this point is that my 60+ year old mother and 60+ year old mother-in-law do it too! 

HOW WE MAKE SURE YOU SUCCEED

The key is we don’t put anyone in classes until they are ready. We start with a simple conversation in our FREE No Sweat Intro and then go through several 1-on-1 sessions with you first to make sure you move properly and are completely comfortable.  

2. my friend/family member is so good – I’m embarrassed to be so much “worse” than them

My buddy and I had been friends for years, but my ego struggled with the idea of me showing up and him being so much better than me. I could only imagine how bad it would have been if it was my wife!

WHAT I LEARNED

I somehow swallowed my pride (after 3 years mind you) and quickly realized 2 important things:

  1. No one cares what I lift or how fast I go…not even my friend/family. The only thing that is rewarded is moving well, working hard, and having fun. Seriously, people are so focused on getting through the workout themselves that they have no clue what you are doing.
  2. What friends/family really care about is sharing SOMETHING that has impacted their life with SOMEONE that has impacted their life. Honestly, they will be way more disappointed if you can’t put aside your pride than if you show up and feel like you struggle.  30% of our membership is couples and it’s done amazing things for those relationships! 

HOW WE MAKE SURE YOU SUCCEED

To put it simply, we get you good before we put you in class.

After our FREE No Sweat Intro, the next step is for us to meet at least 4 times together in a 1-on-1 environment. We eliminate any potential pressure to lift what the next guy is lifting or move faster than your friend. Instead, we make sure you learn properly, move well, and get comfortable.

Only when you are ready, will you move on to classes if you would like.

3. I don’t know if i’ll fit in.

I had never tried nor was I ever interested in group training.  On top of that, my buddy would talk to his CrossFit friends using CrossFit terms I had never heard of.  Honestly, I felt like a bit of an outsider and my “anti-establishment” voice started chirping in my head.

WHAT I LEARNED

Luckily I overcame my unfounded outsider feelings and learned something critical…”The group/community atmosphere isn’t why people come, but it is why people stay.”

As a whole, I have found CrossFitters to be the most accepting group I’ve ever met.

As a newer athlete, both coaches and other members go above and beyond to make you feel comfortable. 

HOW WE MAKE SURE YOU SUCCEED 

We make sure you like the vibe before you even break a sweat.

In our 20 minute No Sweat Intro there’s no working out and no pressure. Just an easy conversation. You get to meet us, see the gym, ask us questions, and see if the vibe is right for you.

We in turn get to know you, understand your goals, and make sure we are the right ones to help you. 

If one way or another it’s not a fit, no big deal, it was only 20 minutes and you can report back to your friend/spouse it isn’t right for you. Easy day.

If it is a good fit, then we will get you scheduled for some intro 1-on-1s!
